Pitting on port shaft

Post by dodgeem »

While getting the bottom painted I noticed that the port shaft has some pitting. My question is when is it time to replace it? How much corrosion puts it over the line? There were no zincs left when I hauled it out and now there are two per shaft plus the rudders.

you may be able to get by with some pitting if its not to heavy , is there pitting at the shaft taper near the prop ? Did you pull the props and insp it there ? the taper is the weakest point.

None near the props, just about halfway up.
