He posted on here a couple weeks ago. It was a very funny post about riding out a bad storm....from his slip. That's the last one I remember anyway.

Just FYI - his username is larglo not largo.

Hope he's okay. I wish folks would at least put an email address in their profile...be nice to send one a quick email to see all is well. Had this discussion before and to each his own I guess...

I believe he's on the J. Percy Priest lake and flooding is an issue there.

Well, I'm totally surprised that anyone is worried about me, but it does feel good that there is concern for me, Yes, I have hit a good size bump in the road, but getting better. Feeling stronger each day.

vabeach1234, is also correct that the Percy Priest lake is flooded and I haven't been able to get to our boat in what must be two weeks, but wouldn't be able to anyway right now. From the looks of how fast and rate their dropping it, looks like perhaps another week or more before I'll be able to get to her.

My son does have a friend that had a fishing boat, and yesterday was able to get him to take him to the boat, and he came back with the good news that the Lady G, was in good shape. So I am much relieved to hear that.

This got me to thinking, if I'm ever able to get back to doing anything, I need a way to get to the boat in times like these. I remembered foofer's dinghy and found a 7 footer at Wal Mart less than $500. Says shipping weight is 55 lbs, so really light.
I was also thinking that someone had made their own divits to hold it on the transom.
I would keep it at home most of the time, but use it also to do some fishing closer to shore once in a while. But would need a way to transport it when I do.

So, if any of you out there, have made their own dinghy davits, could you give me some details on how you did it.

Glad you're up and about, Larry. Hope the bump in the road wasn't too big a one. We had a scare yesterday about the dam that hold our lake. It was built in 1929-30 as a flood control measure for the lower Hudson River as well as a hydro project. Seems they "lost" 2 feet of water a couple of days ago during the time it was already nearly 5 feet over the spillway due to the heavy rain and snowmelt we've had here. Had visions of "buh-bye" water in the lake and the big tidal wave rolling into the Hudson when the dam gave way....turns out someone at the dam site made a mistake in the readings.....whew!!

Anyway, good luck with the dinghy and davits. I think they make ones for a "hard" dinghy to hang off your swim platform, and then you clip in the dinghy like a couple of hinges and then you can pivot it up so it's connected to the swim platform and the other end rests on your platform. Been thinking about doing that with the old dinghy we have left over from our sailing days. Right now it's gathering mold and pollen in the back yard.....
