Just wondering if I should be adding a lead additive to my gas. I've got a 75 F25 with the 318.
What do some of you other guys do?

75/76 is when it changed over I believe .. and once you get the fuel system set and engines timed for corn gas your boat run normal again and dependable. It's just one big pain in the a@$ gettin' it done.

At first all gas was unleaded. In the 1920s lead was added to gas and all gas had lead with the exception of standard oil ( Amoco) they never put lead in their Hi Test ( known as white gas for years ) With the start of Cat converters (1975) unleaded was a must so in the mid 70s every one had a unleaded ,but most still sold lead too. over time leaded was fazed out .Big D wrote:Does anyone remember what year unleaded was introduced? Engines manufactured just before and since, and rebuilds would have incorporated hardened seats, no?
