Post by LandVF36 »

I know I've seen one of you guys post a fresh water cooling plumbing diagram for mercuiser small block V8s. I can't find them. Does anyone have them or recall the title of the post I could find them in?

Its not for my Trojan, working on a boat for an old fishing buddy of my dad's....

Thanks in advance

I have the manual, this is one of many, no 898 model i can see, 888 though. There are only a couple models based on HP that are different than this, what HP is the engine?

Well the drawings helped get the hoses all back on right. Thanks everyone. First run on the garden hose she ran a little hot. Got to about 190 and I shut her down. Got a new 140 thermostat and she ran to abotu 175 at 2000 rpm. I slowed down to 500-600 thinking that the hose ws not enough but never backed down.
So i'm thinking there might be a blockage or limited passage somewhere. I plan on taking off the hoses one at a time and looking for obstruction. Next, pressure test the exhaust logs. Next, remove the frost plugs on the block take the engine water pump off the front and flush it out good with high pressure water.
Any other thoughts. Right now I'm running the hose into the intake on the block (not going through the lower unit as it is not assembled yet.
