Thanks to everyone for the input we received on the repower of our new F25. It was very helpful and we learned a lot!
We were able to buy a fresh reman 318 block and a good running complete takeout 318 for a very, very reasonable cost from a local business. We want to use all the best of the parts and keep some good spare parts. Plus we have our existing seized 318 as well, which is mostly intact.
We almost went with a GM 350 reman block but we would have no gm parts and that would incur more expense to install. I really liked the idea of the extra power and ease of parts availability that the GM conversion would have brought to the boat.
If money was no object we may have gone another way but with 3 young kid's and a very tight budget we decided putting back the 318 sounds a lot easier and will definately cost us less. Plus we will get a bit more horsepower now! Dropped off the big skid at the mechanic'c shop and now we can start planning our installation schedule!
Thanks again to everyone who helped us with this big decision... I will be back sooner than later I'm sure
