Won the Powerball!
No I didn't win the powerball, but if did I would buy a 2007 or newer 37ft Egg Harbor!
I got the opportunity last night to fish off a 2008 37ft Egg. All I can say is WOW!!! An old client of mine from back in the Charter fishing days called 2 weeks ago & told me had bought the boat out of N. Carolina. He wanted me to teach him how to run the boat once he was able to get in the water. Yesterday was splash day.
This gentleman is the nicest guy anybody would wanna meet, but more money than brains fits him well. He has never owned a boat or operated one for that matter. Yesterday was quit an experience trying to teach him some seaman ship skills. Lots of practice docking & maneuvering in close quarters. To be honest I was ready to pull my hair out. Long story short, he is now able to operate his boat "ok"!
Anyway if you guys ran into a pile of money what would be your new or newer boat of choice? I know this is a Trojan board, buts facts are Trojan no longer makes boats & we can't buy new ones.
So I hope nobody gets too bent out of shape at me for asking this question?

If I ever was so lucky, I probably would research and find a yard that would do a complete stringers up restoration on my F-26 leaving nothing untouched. Also go high end on the interior.... It's been a perfect boat for me for the past 18yrs why not repay it the favor
All you need is a dollar and a dream....

Marquis ? Carver ! Gaaacckkk!!! (but then again you know my bias).alexander38 wrote:Heck I'd buy a new Marquis,
A nice 50+ or 60+ Ocean Yachts Sunliner might be nice. I have a friend with a Viking 43 DCMY but if I ended up with one of them he might think I was copying. If I had enough cash a Buddy Davis or Rybovich might be nice! Don't tell the wife.
I have always loved the lines of a Buddy Davis, but their so damn big. Smallest they make now is 55ft or I should say Egg Harbor makes since they own Buddy Davis now.captainmaniac wrote:Marquis ? Carver ! Gaaacckkk!!! (but then again you know my bias).alexander38 wrote:Heck I'd buy a new Marquis,

37 or 43 would be perfect for me. I also love Vikings, but I could never own one. Boy oh boy would I have to eat a pile of crow if I bought one. My best friend also owns a 43 Viking & when I had my Egg we gave each other so much crap about who had a better boat.
I would never live it down!!
How can I post pics on this site?

now that I got the hits on the upgraded Carver...
I wouldn't buy one and Paul you know I don't like bleach bottle boats..If I had the big $ I'd most likely find an old Hat fishing yacht and have it re-fitted by Hat. but wouldn't rule out a 42' + Carver or Trojan and have them redone from the keel up....

Fishing yacht ?? dam someone has hi jacked Tony's pass word .
I was looking at a old Hat last week . Nice boat but there something about there lines I just don't like . Not saying I would not own one( I was looking at one ) but a viking , ocean , egg even Trojan have a better look . At one time I was looking at eggs and ended up with my F36 . I as far as quality a Egg won't even come close to a viking ( pre 2000 or so after that I don't know about egg)

yes it's me....and yes a fishing yacht, have all the stuff we love about our ACMY and a small open cockpit for fishing but it would end up as the back yard for Rex and Teddy with AstroTurf and a small tree
and the Ocean Trawlers are darn nice too, But I'd never do an OA....they're over P.O.S...

nice to see that you would rework your trusty trojan. if i won the power ball, i would IMMEDIATELY pay off all my credit card bills, resign from the airline, then take my boat to deltaville boat yard in deltaville, virginia. i've been chatting almost weekly with some of the guys that work there and i'm excited to meetup w/ them at the annapolis power boat show. i would have them do a complete retit from stem to stern, maybe even do a repower on her with newer more fuel efficient engines and a genset. hell, i might even go with diesels. (or a hybrid engine system) anyway, this is the punch list of what i would do...MattSC wrote:If I ever was so lucky, I probably would research and find a yard that would do a complete stringers up restoration on my F-26 leaving nothing untouched. 1. get rid of the bow pulpit and install a slider. (glass in the rope locker and add an over board drain like newer boats)
2. rebed all stanchions and run stainless steel railings all around the boat and get rid of the turn buckle life lines.
3. get rid of all pinstripes and pain the hull one color.
3. remove the old window frames and install diamond sea glaze frames and water proof windows.
4. remove the aft cabin window sliders, glass over the opening and install two or three large opening port lights.
5. add drain scuppers to the aft deck and bridge storage areas
6. remove the old fridge and install a drawer fridge freezer and extend the counter over it.
7. all new LED lighting, new 12/120 volt sub systems, including a new more modern electrical panel with digital readouts.
8. get rid of the red carpet and add a lighter color.
9. new helm station console with built in electronics.
10. remove and redo the helm windshield with new wipers and weather stripping.
11. get rid of the bimini top and install a hard top or 'hard to top' unit.
12. get rid to that god awful underwater exhaust system! (you have no idea how much i hate not having a way to shut that off!!)
13. add a stainless steel holding tank like european boats---plastic holding tanks are not permitted under CE rules.
14. have all stress cracks repaired
15. rear escape hatch glassed over and add a real hatch
16. plumbing redone with red and blue water lines.
17. solar panels for batteries and sub systems
18. 4/5/or 6 bladed props
----- as you can tell folks, i've given this a LOT of thought over the past year----- i love this boat and i'd love to keep her. but this is just a 'short list'.
i'm sure i can think of more.
