1976 Trojan F30?

Post by SweetOlive »

We just purchased her a couple months ago, I know from the title she is a 30' Trojan 1976, but I was wondering if anyone could identify the model for me ?? :) We have just started fixing her up & I would love any feedback I can get :)

I will have to check tomorrow, unless the hull id is the same as the identification #? That ends 276

Thanks for responding :)

I had seen some pics of an express but it did not have the front windows so I was not sure. But they may have been added later.

It Is the same number But there will be 3 more numbers on the hull
(-XXX) that should be your model number The last 3 may not be on your paper work look at the hull

example my F36 hull id is TRJ0xxxxxx77-460 the 460 for F36 convertible . BTW the 77 is the year built . I know this is the way it it is on 1977 and newer .on some early 70s boats The 3 numbers that follow TRJ maybe the model number ( not sure but read a post on this )

Hull number - TRJ number

The TRJ (Coast Guard certification number) is found on the starboard side of the transom just above the swim deck if she has a one. This would be true of all fiberglass Trojan hulls 1970 - 1992. TRJ stands for TROJAN and this is the Coast Guard certification number and the one that is often found on your registration.

The Hull number or as is some time referred to the (working hull number) is found on a tag made of aluminum by the AC DC panel, inside the door of the AC DC panel or below the AC DC panel. On some smaller Trojan under 30 ft it is often found on the back of the head door or a closet door.
On the F 30 Clean Machine it is on the inside of the closet door starboard side forward.
This Trojan tag has the engine ID number (s), inspector number and the Hull number which is three numbers followed by four. This number is its finger print of your Trojan and is the easiest to work with or decode.

The first three numbers are the model of you Trojan 321 is a F 32 Sedan, 251 is a F 25, 210 is a 25 foot Sea Raider 309 is a 30 foot Sea Raider 301 is a F 30, 440 is a F 36 TriCabin, 460 is a F 36 Sedan, 500 is a 42 MY.

The fourth number or first number in the second set is the year. Hull number 321 7045 = F 32 year 1977 second set of three is its production number in this sample 045 is the 45 F 32 built since production started in 1970.

The problem with with the working hull number is that on large production boats like the F 32 some times the production numbering started over. So if you do not know if your Trojan was was build in the 70 or 80 then you would need the TRJ number as well to know if the 7 was 1977 or 1987

If you have a wooden Trojan 1945 - 1969 then she would only have a Trojan tag as described above or before 1955 she may only have the three number followed by four stamped inside of the transom, the engine stringers inside of the engine hatch.

If you need help with a TRJ number or Hull number Please call or or E mail Bob@Trojanboats.net

The reason I did not copy and paste the info is all the info is not need and can be confusing and miss leading on later years .we are dealing with a F30 only .

AND in many CASES the three model numbers are after the S/N number mid 70s on NOT the first 3 as I stated . You most likely not see the last 3 numbers on your registration or documentation but its on the hull .

pretty vessel. she looks great next to the other boats in the marina. i love how these old ladies stand up against he best of them. have you noticed how they polish up? from what i'm told it is from the high amounts of zinc that trojan used in the gel coat. fiberglassers will also tell you that working on a trojan hull is very easy. for some reason, the resin that was used is very easy to work with when repairs are needed. same on older chris crafts, concordes, and hatteras boats from that era.

We did try a test spot with the buffer & she shined right up! So that is our next project :) My Husband & I did not know anything about Trojan's before we purchased this one but we used to walk past her on the way to our sail boat & she always caught our eye, so when she went up for sale we were so excited & bought her as soon as her owner could meet us!

The more I learn about Trojan's the happier I am with the purchase!
