Bilge painting

Post by bkwesq »

Got some bilgekote to use after the engine is pulled and since the floorboards are up I will get most of the boat cleaned and painted before I put the floor and v-birth back down.

Should I coat it with epoxy first?

Will bilgekote cover on the residual oil left behind?

Also should I sand it first?

Thanks!

When I did the bilge in my chris craft I cleaned the bilge as best I could then scuffed the glass up pretty good wiped it down with thinner before I applied the bige kote grey. Had no problems with it peeling or flaking. Even after the gas tank went bad and leaked into the bilge. Held up real good. My son now has the boat and its still holding up. Hope this helps.
