Oh thats always fun. Old distributors are notorious for mucking things up and making stinky exhaust as well. Once there is enough slop in that driven gear its impossible to time properly. Nevermind what can happen with mechanical advance if poorly maintained.

I had a 5.0 MPI in the Sea Swirl I just sold. It was a great engine, though I did have to replace the IAC valve about 6 seasons in, and when it went I was nearly stranded. In the end it will most likely be quality replacement longblocks for me when the time comes. The only major upgrades I might consider is going with a more modern roller cam head style and intake setup on the replacement engines. Guess we'll see when the time comes. Knock wood that won't be much before the end of the decade.

Good thing you clarified. Doubt the yardmaster would be too impressed when the honeywagon stopped by to top up your tanks. Though it probably smells about the same if you burn it.
Would I do something like that Paul? Especially to YOU? Others might, but not meee!

With comments like that and the fact I have yet to see the tanker of diesel ,I would say your chances are getting slimmer by the minute .
