Well we fished a rockfish tournament this past Saturday and Sunday.
Starboard engine cooling issue kept me from venturing down river and staying close to home with use of only the port engine. No fish on Saturday.
Saturday night, got the issue resolved and Sunday morning headed down river 25 miles to my spots. Just putting lines in when a 24" Rock hit. No money prize but did manange to keep 6 by day's end. I'm sure we caught more than most out there. My good friend took home the $5,000.00 first place with his kids. Good time as always! Below is a fun little video of the rookie's first rock and some fish in the cooler onboard Reel Antsy. Just click on the first one and it should load.

Nice Jamie! Out here in the west our run is just starting.......story has it that our stripers ( don't call them rockfish out here) came west from the east in the late 1800's in a couple barrels. They were released near Benicia CA. Within years there was a viable Striper fishery. With more and more of the Sacramento bay/delta water being diverted to southern CA the fishery has suffered tremendously........this is slowly killing one of the more diverse fisheries/wetlands area in the country......truly a sad situation. We did have a very wet winter last year so hopefully the run will improve this year, going out Friday to find out.....................John
Never heard them called Line Siders down here I will add that to the list. .That fish sure has a lot of nick names . Do you need both a Va and MD fishing license where your at ?

No in response to the license Paul. The Potomac River belongs to Maryland, except where it cuts through DC.
Both states are reciprocal in tidal waters along the river. I have a Virginia Marine Resources (VMR) boat license, which covers all those aboard fishing.
