MY FIRST LIGHT PARADE

Post by foofer b »

Next Saturday I willl be in my first ever lighted boat parade. Can you experienced guys give me some pointers. I plan on using my Honda 2000 to power them. Other than that I have no definite plans. Any Ideas you guys care to share? Oh and will Wal Mart lights be ok?

I do not plan on anything as fancy as these below...

Its very difficult to see with all of the lights around, so have several sober lookouts to help. Make sure your VHFs work!

Cheapest lights possible should work - they won't last long around the salt water. The 12VDC rope lights are nice, if you step down to a transformer.

Have fun - it was too cold to go to ours this year - everyone bailed on me!

I dunno Roy. We used to do it in July, cuz around here we never have our boats in on X-mas. I suppose I could scan some photos, its been so long is all on photopaper not digital. My dad and Peter L in santa suits with us kids(we are all pushing 40 now) as elves were great memories. I can even get the restaurant photos cuz the place we used to go kept albums too and I ended up working as their executive chef for 12 years when I finally tried to grow up.

Still not a grown-up, and perish the thought, but I still know how to string a Trojan for X-mas. 8)

We have one up my way every year. Don't under estimate the amount of current hundreds of lights will draw. I've seen guys cover thier boats with so many that they kept tripping the breakers on their generators. Get LED lights, they will draw much less current.
