Zinc / Phosphorus in oil

Post by larryeddington »

Someone brought up the lowering of Zinc/phosphorus in oil. Checking on the net that is a fact.

I looked up additives sold that would replace those components. I have never been one to use additives but it looks like this might be an additive for our flat tappet engines that would be a good thing and several are available.

Opinions, products recommended?

Larry, I've read that Lucas ZDDP is a good additive and Redline makes an additive also, they're engine break-in additives to increase zinc levels for all flat tappet motors.

When I fire my two 318s the Lucas product will be in them. Seems like a good idea, specially on new engines and ones used as hard as does marine use.
