My Sentry detection indicators below my instrument panel are totally inop (zero lights, switch knob shaft bent, etc). If I remove this panel, does it affect anything else....like the Halon system? For some reason now my fire system green light doesn't light when I start the engines too.
I want to upgrade to a Xintex system.
Any suggestions appreciated before I remove something I shouldn't and cause more headaches.

Mine's the same way and I have removed the box. It should not affect the bottle in the engine room as that has a sensor (wax or similar) that when heated, (fire) should cause it to expell the halon...if the system is still charged.
The box is pretty much for monitoring and testing...

Good. I'm fabricating and new hinged switch panel to mount all my new bilge pump switches, 12v accessory outlet and "extras" down below the existing panel and will use that big oval hole to feed my wires. I've installed the house battery back under the starboard salon seat complete with a sealed box and vented thru a 3/4 id hose back out above the deck AC plug. This way I can get a handle on this wiring mess......start from scratch. I've installed a total circuit breaker (50 amp) inline right off the battery post followed by a disconnect switch followed by appropriate Blue Seas ATC covered fuse panels. Also, added power posts as necessary to eliminate long runs. The only items in this system are the LED nav lights (2 amp), auto bilge pumps (10amp x 2) and some lights on the rear deck (10 amp). Running 10ga marine wire through vented conduits to fuse blocks secured every 18 inches.
