In the past whenever I had a head problem I simply replaced the anchor wench.
Cleared the problem right up and I went on my way, happy as a clam....
o.k. we won't go there!
But seriously, don't you think that having fully functional head makes boating more verstile & fun?
For me I can get far more pleasure out of pleasureboating that way.
Of course, you could leave it entirely up to chance....
then it would be HEAD or TAIL...

What about the regulations?
I thought that porta-potties were illegal in boats in many areas..... they are required to be connected to a pumpout system which kind of defeats the purpose of replacing a head and holding tank setup.
Recirculating flushes OMG

Ontario Canada regulations.... all portable potties on boats must have pumpout hose connections. Can't tell where OP is from.

Torcan, yes and no to the plumbed in porta-potti, the regs state that in order to consume alcohol (legally) on board the head must be plumbed-in, that is, to a deck fitting, also a secured cooking device is required, bbq on back doesnt qualify. So if you dont plan on drinking on board (out of the slip) you dont require a head at all, portable or fixed... sorry what was I thinking,"not drinking"? All the same, I would keep the head. Skargo, I have a self contained head that I removed from my '86 F26 if you are interested, I plan on putting in a "real" head, with tank to be located in engine area. The self contained works well, I rebuilt it this past summer.
I'll keep it, I was thinking I could get more seating if I eliminated it, but it will come in handy and who knows, maybe we will take her out of the slip on some trips.

You could always take it out on a "pump-out cruise". You know, from your slip to the pump-out and back
We have a few in our club that is the only time their boat moves

I hear that. Luckily we have another boat that we use for our longer distance cruises!
