great share thanks. i guess since the f-25-26 has its drains near the water line, then we should worry about cabin weight, i would think its just a good idea to install such things so you never have to worry, now my ??? would be maintenance. how often would a duckbill need to be checked or swaped out in saltwater? never? just add it to your seasonal list?

Paul,
I had to laugh when i read your post. after discussing this with you the other day I started thinking about the "siphon" effect of water flowing back to the bilge and realizied how bad that would be. I thought "man I need to put these on my to do list" Thanks for the great advice.

before you all go puttin' on duck bills and running extra hose up and down to stop siphoning ect....think about the the lost of head volume you're taking off the pump by adding all this. Read the install instructions of the pump. If your that worried about water coming in the hose, get thru-hulls with a rubber flapper in them that seal when water tries to enter. IMHO

speaking of critters, keep the drain plugs in your sinks, i just turn mine upside down so that they don't have to be removed every time the water runs. reason? well here in Mobile there are these tiny little stone crabs that like to climb those pipes and visit your galley and salon. one was enough for me!

If I lived down south, in the warm all year round boating belt, Florida included. I would be more concerned in snakes slithering in. Stone Crabs I can work with, (don't they sell lotion for that at the pharmacy?) But snakes, I would freak out and probably jump overboard.
