Here's some pictures of it to give you an idea of what the boat looks like. Its a '78 Hard Top. If your interested, send me a PM with your e-mail address and let me know what info you'd like me to send you.

Not bad for a 34 year old boat "eh".
Thanks Paul, I am working on the 26 right now and I am going to send you a PM once I figure out the format. Your boat looks great!

I also have an b/w aerial shot of a 10 meter mid cabin autographed by Mr. Harry Schoell.

Although he is currently busy with other projects, an interview might be interesting if you could provide a guaranteed amount of coverage on him specificaly in the book. I am aware that there was some discord between him and the management at Lancaster.

Please advise specifically as to what you need or want.

I would be happy to copntributa any other specific information if you will tell me how many words and a specific angle you want covered.

I'll be honest, I know nothing about these boats and if you want to write the chapter opener with some history I will give you full credit for it! Harry Schoell was a friend of Ron Pickle and Ron's Widow still stays in touch with Harry so hopfully I can get him to say a few words.

I'll get back to you with more info

I would be happy to take a ride over to the other coast and do an in person interview.

All I need to know is what angle you want on the story.

THANKS!

Cool, I need to set up the format, when that's done I will be in touch.

mid cabin photo?

Post by BobCT »

RWS - do you have a scanned copy of the mid cabin photo? That sounds pretty cool, I'd love to have a copy if you wouldn't mind.

Happy to contribute some mid cabin pics if needed.

Hi Bob,

If you are referring to the Schoell autograph, it's mounted ina matte and in a frame.

It's a black and white factory shot with a man at the helm and a womanstanding at the sliding door.

I don't tink it's a good idea to take it apart with the mat boatd and all, as I do not want to risk any damage. I got the photo at the Trojan Resendvous at PiratesCove in Stuart Florida in 2002. Harry and Ferge were there and Harry was the guest speaker. He also brought along his prototype 22' boat with the articulated prop shaft "PULSE DRIVE"

He invited my girlfriend and I out the next day for a ride.

We were going 74 MPH on the GPS in this 22' boat with a single 350 cid engine and it was riding as if it was on rails. Scared me at first until I relaxed. The pulse drive sent out a huge roostertail.

Harry was having fun running next to a big jet ski and then giving it the throttle and jumping ahead like a rocketship.

Amazing design where the swim platform is attached to the drive and it raises and lowers as a unit with the trim.

Anyhow, that's my story on getting the autographed photo.

I haven't read through the whole thread as yet, but just wanted to point out that you can also get some info (though possibly have copyright issues) from Powerboat Guide.... they have high level reviews similar to this for a bunch of models.

For what it is worth, if I can find the time to fish out some old info, I have some details on the old 1969 28' Sea Skiff, specs from some other '69 models, and original 1979 info as well.

This guy http://www.boatingwithdawsons.com/about ... story.html could also be a reference... his family has been in the marine business for multiple generations, and they were Trojan dealers for many, many years.

Trojan History

Post by Boatbuilder »

Doug

I was in senior managment at Trojan from 1980 until 1992 and worked with Ron Pickle and the others on our team. If you are writing a book about the company's history I would be interested in assisting you including providing you with a few names of others who could contribute. Let me know if you would like my help.

A few years ago I contributed information and photos to the author who wrote the history of a boat builder that I was associated with in the 1960's. That book, "Building Kettenburg's" was published jointly by the San Diego Maritme Museum and The Mystic Seaport Maritime Museum.

Please, please count me in for a copy when you're done. Trojans are now spread from Alaska to Germany, and you're book can tell their whole story.
I'm running my F-32 in Alaska for the 22nd year, and will continue to run her until I can't any more. I'm sure there's a lot of Trojan owner's that will do the same. Trojans are that good a boat.
Good luck with the book, and I'd be more than happy to help, if you need it.
