No thinking or speaking in absolutes! There are no such things! Always and never are the worst offenders!

Maybe today is a good day to get the cover off your distribution panel and see what it looks like in there. Possibly switch out the breaker for the fwd. lighting with a different one you know is good from another circuit. Who knows, you might get in there and see the problem right away. Since you know its a hot wire issue now you are well on your way to solving it.

I also have the "Engine Ignition" breakers Aaron. They are allways off when not running. Only affects engines. Have you pulled out the 12v panel to see if theres anything funky looking at those breakers?
Here's a thought : almost every "Closet" light on board at some point stops working and the cause is the little ground clip going to the bulb unit. After playing the stupid game of each time just plugging it back in ( ) I finaly used needle nose and crimped every one a little tighter so they were tough to put back on. Havn't had a prob since.
p.s. be carefull removing the 12v panel. Mine is very tight fit and the first time I did the Main 12v breaker lugs touched the metal support bracket and Sparked big time

commission..... i'd love to get to the boat and remove the breaker panel today but i'm on the 'flight crew call out list' and with my luck, i'd get everything ready and the crew desk would call. once they make initial contact with a trip assignment i must report within two hours, or if it's considered a 'quick call', 90 minutes. the marina is 20 minutes away, and living in baltimore and flying out of washington national, every minute, every second counts. so that will have to wait for a day when i am free of the call out thing.

ron......the only light on my boat that has an 'on demand' fixture is the small light in the forward utility area. it has a small spring loaded button that illuminates when you open the door. and no kidding about the panel being a tight fit. trojan did not allow ANY room for working in there. the same holds true for the 120v panel and the genset panel. very tight fits on all three.

i know i'm getting close to figuring this out, each step gets me closer, and i cannot thank you guys enough for all the support while i've been documenting this saga.....since november of 2011.
