My buddy used to use a buffer with Collonite on a 1968 38' Commander & that boat looked like new every year.
They'll pry a rotten plank from my cold dead fingers before i go "Tupperware". http://www.photobucket.com/restless

heres what I use, I tried it because it seems that every detail and boat maintenance guy around the marina uses these two product and the boats look great.
i tried this past weekend and it really made the hull shine. My hull was clean but dull, when I applied the sealant conditioner, the gel coat sucked up the conditioner, I used an entire can on just the hull. After using the conditioner I applied the wax, it went on fairly easy, and buffed out by hand to a glossy shine. not new, but shiney.

STEP 2 OF 3 STEP SYSTEM
#BWM-164 is designed for all fiberglass, chrome & painted surfaces. It brings back dull surfaces to new or near new condition. It is a polish & conditioner in one, so it cleans, protects and restores in one easy step. If there is excessive oxidation, a second application may be necessary. California VOC compliant.
DIRECTIONS: It can be applied by hand or machine. For hand use, apply # 164 with a soft towel by working it thoroughly into the surface. Use overlapping circular motion for uniform coverage. Allow it to dry to a haze and wipe off residue with a soft cloth, turn to a clean side of a towel & buff to a glossy smooth surface. When using a buffer maintain a light even pressure and buff in overlapping areas for uniformity. Then, allow it to dry completely and wipe with a clean soft cloth or towel to a glossy surface.

FINAL STEP OF 3 STEP BIG WHITE PASTE WAX SYSTEM
FK’s # BWM 1000 is made from a blend of synthetic waxes to obtain a high degree of consistent quality. The most important attributes of this wax blend are hi melting points and greater hardness than natural waxes. Thus, the resulting film provides not only the high gloss but resistance to wear from heat, water & other natural causes. California VOC compliant. It is great for all painted, chrome and fiberglass surfaces found on Marine, Aircraft & Automotive finishes. It is easy to use and easy to wipe off.
DIRECTIONS: Apply with a clean & soft cloth onto an already clean surface in a overlapping circular pattern for uniform film. Allow to dry and wipe off residue with soft cloth. Then buff to a bright, hard, slick and protective finish.

I have used 3M cleaner/wax with good results. Last year I tried yacht bright buff magic and pro polish, also with good results......however I've settle on Maguires marine wax, it's on the boat and I'm not so don't have the specifics. I'll be down there tomorrow and get details. I found it the easiest to use and still got great results. When it comes to waxing a boat, easy is a good thing............John

I ended up doing the whole starboard side of the hull on last saturday and the Buff Magic and the Pro Polish were a breeze to work with. The pink stuff is nasty though, but I smeared it on the hull evenly and buffed it in. Section...by section....by section! It is a great product to use.
Im just going to do 1 coat of pro polish on the hull because its not that bad to begin with, and besides I am going to sell the boat this year.

This is what I used last spring, 10 months ago. Kinda hard to see in the pic but it still shines. Easy on and off............put it on with a buffer, took it off by hand...........John

I use the three step Meguiar's system every spring with the carnuba pure wax. Then as the summer goes on I use the Meguiar's 50 one step cleaner wax when required to remove stains from bird strikes, black lines from run off and to shine any areas that start getting a little dull. I also use the 50 to maintain the inside of the cockpiit. Its great stuff.jddens wrote:This is what I used last spring, 10 months ago. Kinda hard to see in the pic but it still shines.
