I started to install my manifolds on starboard side motor and I saw some oil dripping from the nut holding the housing in place it has 2 rubber type
washers and after looking at the port side motor it has no washers
So my guestion is ,, is there a oil ring or gasket behind the housing , I have been chasing a leak 2yrs now as it leaks a fair amount

They're different due to the design of inboard versus inboard/outboard. The configuration of exhaust has a lot to do with it along with the proximity to the transom and other components.
Someone may have used the set-up already configured for another when they installed your present engines. One set-up over the other, has no advantage I can see, other than ease of getting to filter and keeping it out of the way of specific components. If you have no leaks and can service your filter, leave it.

well that is what i thought. it will be just as easy to change filters either way. so if it all works the same i wont change it. since i dont have the seals anyway. i did email the manufacturer to show them I have the wrong config for the oil filter and to send me the seals so i could change it. we'll see what they say. thanks
