Looks like a step backward to manpower rather than heavy equipment to do digging and hauling.

You had to ask... copied and pasted from the CARB website

Commercial Harbor Craft Regulatory

Background:

This area of the Commercial Marine Vessels website pertains to regulatory activities to reduce diesel particulate matter (PM), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), and reactive organic gases (ROG) from commercial harbor craft. There are several types of harbor craft in use in California, including crew and supply boats, charter fishing vessels, commercial fishing vessels, ferry/excursion vessels, pilot vessels, towboats or push boats, tug boats, and work boats. A rule was adopted in November 2007 and became effective in January 2009. ARB staff is currently developing proposed revisions to the rule that would add in-use engine requirements for dredges and other barges

gettaway wrote:Hi All,
we are facing a reporting deadline for on road diesel trucks here in California, at the end of the day today, 26,000 lb and heaver diesel trucks become a regulated entity in the golden state.

We are being forced to replace, repower or retrofit with PM filters to meet a compliance schedule. It appears that that this will be the death knell to a lot of small trucking and construction firms in the state, and will keep a lot of out of state trucking companies from entering California, yes, if you drive a truck in California , you are subject to the regulation, regardless of your registration.
in the world of environmentalism, acedemia and government, this must all seem great, you know save the children and all.....

I just completed the reporting of approximately 1500 trucks, which includes Make Model Year, Vin, Type, GVW, Engine make model year family
I know Navistar is paying fines to continue doing biz in California until they get some new engines out. Do you pay fines or just the "replace, repower or retrofit" options?

Wonder if this will lead to a surcharge on items shipped to California? I ship some LTL there ...

Rossjo,

I dont want to change the direction of this topic, but Navistar is paying fines because they have run out of credits they used to meet the 2010 engine standard. in order for them to continue to sell a "2010 compliant engine" they actually have to meet the 2010 standard. think CAFE standards for cars

you know, each mfg makes a few piece of crap tiny 50 mpg models that no one drives so the overall new car line up meets the 23 mpg requirement

Navistar is in trouble because they chose a different method of controlling NOx, and they have butted heads with EPA and CARB who chose the winner as being DEF.

too bad, the old DT 466 was a good engine, under powered but good

Hi all,

I am picking up the pennants on wednesday morning, I still have a few extras remaing so if you want one and have been holding off, now is the time to order.

I plan to ship them wednesday afternoon, and as of now, will ship them via UPSP priority mail. its the best rate for the size of package outside of sending them first class mail.
thanks again

Pennants Shipped

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

Wow that was fast. I received my shipping notice from PayPal that Kerry has shipped my pennant.

Just in time for my boat to launch with the pennant on Friday the 13th.

This will help ward off any evil that may be lurking because of the date.
