Teak Cleaning in the cabin
I just purchased a 1977 f32 and want to restore the teak on the inside of the cabin. As a kid used the 2part teak cleaner which will make a huge mess inside so I don't want to do that. Does anyone have any ideas on how to bring the teak back to it's luster of years ago? It seams as though it is only oiled but maybe not. Any insight would be really appreciated.

Murphy's oil soap & warm water works good on Mahogany.

That is what i use. Do it every spring, actually is the project for Saturday. If its really dirty you will have to wash it a couple times.
Seems to take out the water stains pretty good. I've wondered about the one part cleaner/lighteners though.

Teak
If it is not dirty, just oil it with any brand of teak oil you prefer. I use Watco teak oil and they also make a teak cleaner/oil.
The light spots from water damage will disappear over a few days after oiling once the oil penetrates and disperses into the wood.
If it has not been done in a few years, the teak may take a couple of applications over a two or three week period to fully get back to its original look.
Don't use any two part cleaners or anything that requires a water rinse. It is not needed.

I use powered tide laundry detergent with bleach. Mix it to consistency of thin pancake batter apply with sponge and clean with brush, let sit a few minutes and rinse with water......use a wet towel to rinse vertical surfaces.......let dry and oil with teak oil of your choice......works good for me...........John

Out of Norwalk. The owner had her for 25 years.
by the way, found something that is really working. Hand cleaner, the cream kind with fine bronze wool. I will send some pics but it really did the trick. Cleans everything off of the surface and once dried and oiled, it looks amazing.
