:P Wife is on the helm when we set/haul the hook, She's real good at the helm and keeping on station and backing her down. And the Goode winch works great, but pullin' that 30' of chain and hook sucks in the mornin' I can't wait for that old thing to die....but I think it's going to be on the bow for awhile...

and personally I found it in-gentlemanly to see a Lady pulling in and anchor while the hubby sets on his butt .... but hey that's just the Texan in me...

Jeff has the hook, chain and rode stayed with me.

30' of chain my theory, of anchoring is I lay the hook out and the chain then some rode while backing down, then hold road till taught then lay more till I get around 9 to 1 out then the chain and rode are laying on the bottom (soft sticky gray clay 90% of the time) I then back down to set the delta hard in the mud. It's worked well for us sure far. We spent the night at the concrete ship's one and a good punch of Boomers came in that night and whipped up the anchorage real good I seen a few guys have to get fired up and use engines to hold, my hook never dragged an inch.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU REALLY DIG EM IN. Down here , a danforth in sand will hold up nicely.
