Cored or not cored? 11 Meter

I had a transducer installed for an electronics upgrade I'm doing. This "hole" was cut out of the bottom of my '89 11 Meter International Express. The question of cored or not cored is answered here. Yes 11 Meter is cored. However look at how thick that is !!!! The guy I had install this said " It's nice to know you can take a bullet" lol. Yes the hull is cored but still over built.

I know there has been several threads on this I thought I might put up some definitive evidence....

I'm not happy it's cored but I am impressed with how well it was done.

I believe the 11 is quite the ideal boat.

Exponentially more cabin and galley space then the 10

Look at the displacement difference for unst 3' additional.

And on top of all that, a quality cored hull.

She's no Sea Ray.....

How was it installed? Did he make the hole oversize and fill with epoxy then re-drill for the probe? I.E. is the edge of the core in the hole sealed with more than just 5200?
That is how I have been told to do cored hulls, bottom or sides.

+1. Nothing wrong with a properly laid cored hull. The trick is how well installs are done. The problem is not knowing how well previous work was done. Ready's is one good way, the other is to drill over, pick the core out all around 1/2 or more then fill with epoxy. Personally I would not use 5200 but that's my prefference. Too hard to remove hardware gone bad, and not really needed as less agressive products will do the same job.

I think he just drilled a hole, put the transducer in and sealed it with automotive silicone sealant.

I mean it's a 20+ year old hull. It will last as long as I need it to???
