Hi folks,
We're looking to replace our cockpit fridge on our 10 meter and were wondering what others are doing/using. Right now we have a tiny, broken, dorm fridge that doesn't fill the space and was put there by the previous owner.
It seems like we have only two choices:
1) Nova Kool r3800/4500 - dc fridge that fits the space. Costs ~$1000 and would require a dc install as there currently is only the AC outlet which works when on shore power or when the engines or Genny are running.

2) Danby DAR259BL - which fits, but not as well and is AC, but costs like $200. Also doesn't have a freezer (maybe a good thing if it thaws every time we are on the hook).

Are there other alternatives that anyone is using? Anyone have strong opinions one way or another on what is a better choice?
With the AC option, I've been thinking of taking the savings and buying an installed inverter - what do folks think of this?
Thanks very much,
Teejae

I replaced my rusty, white, 1980's looking cockpit fridge with a Sears faux stainless steel front model.
It has a freezer in the top.
It runs 100% on AC and I have not aded an inverter as I run a fuel sipping diesel genset.
An inverter would be nice, but here in FL we generally run the AC most of the time we are on the water, hence the genny is already running.
I had to take the top off the unit tp get it to fit beneath the drain on the galley sink.
This is on the express cruiser model, not the mid cabin.
We also have the U-Line referigerator ice maker in the watbar and absolutely LOVE it.

If you go with a regular 120volt, search threads on inverters; whole other subject that you should do some homework on before you take that route.
