My only thought here is this. Paul "prowler" had asked why am I removing rudder, and it took forever!!. It was the only thing down there besides hydraulic steering that was mostly off to the starboard side. I am adding small hatch door to starboard for access to steering pump and trim tab system. Port side is getting a large fish well. I am fiberglassing and painting entire decking for wash down ability, any hatch door will be supper sealed and require maintenence. This location on my boat did not have a bildge pump. Although I am installing several in many locations and trying to learn the crash valve system. SO! when I open my lazerette hatch now all you will see is a rudder system and the steering arm with 1 or 2 pumps. I was thinking of building a frame box up to hold the 2 engine motor batteries, 1 is a back up and a battery switch and the chargers system. this box will be completly sealed yet easy to access and easy to remove, I have NOT thought of any emergency reason yet, but still easy to remove with in minutes, and clear from leaking when washing down the deck. Of course I would always check and keep an eye on things as time goes on. Im thinking If i did do this, its deffenitly a high maintance area. maybe I can draw it and show you the idea???? sorry had to edit. this is just the motor batteries. Inverter golf carts are going in the cabin!! maybe thats what you were thinking of, thats another story LOL

Besides I don't think you want to put that much weight aft, if I remember correctly, you were talking about some pretty big batteries.jefflaw35 wrote:should I steer clear of building a sealed drop box for 2 batteries and battery switch in this location? Sorry I hijacked this Heiner. Guess I should make a post.

understood! maybe light weight box for lightweight goodies. grrrr balancing a boat takes alot of thought! batteries will have to go to starbord side where they were when I bought the boat. lots of weight on this side. fresh water port side as original. and inverter bank on port side. I will weight it all out, just a pain in the butt. so much to think about. I hate to do the next step before considering the final step.
Yes, it isjefflaw35 wrote:Very nice Heiner!! is your rear hatch door on the deck for storage?

... and, yes I know - this space should be free for case's of emergency.
