Thx Tojanmanxs, My name is Carl btw.. I have not purchased yet , still going over my options and costs. I would defintly be interested in hearing about your engine. Being a fellow Trojaneer, that would be music to me ears. My email is Sytex75@aol.com. Thx again

Thx MattSC for the input on your engine swap. I plan on keeping this Trojan for a long time. The F26 is perfect size for what i use it for and being on a trailer i dont have to keep it in that all destructive sea water all the time. Just like anything else you buy you want to do the homework to make sure your not getting ripped off. And being boats are expensive upkeeps anyway you have to be cautious not to end up being candy on a stick. I figure 300-330 hp is about the max for this size boat, so now to track down the right fit. Thx again

well bad news here , the engines I sent the buddy out to fetch would up being to good to be true . he drove from ny to mich. and then the seller claimed he couldnt get the garage door open
. I explained my guy was within 20 mins of the seller but it didnt seem to do any good as he said there was no way to access the engines. sorry for getting hopes up there. if your depressed imagine what I'm currently going through I'm just downright devastated here I paid a guy to go get the engines and the fuels now gone along with the money to the driver just to take a ride cross country .

No biggie man, I think that engine might not have enough hp for what i use it for. Being that the F26 has a little bit of squirlyness in a following sea, having a little more boost can help . Im looking for 300-325 hp. Most of the captains down here that run Carvers and Trojans say they also boosted hp after running into some wx situations. So.. thx for looking into it. Im pretty sure im going with a 5.7 mpfi with 305 hp.

Anyone else have experience replacing 318 with 5.7 in a F26? Height looks to be main fit concern.
Was it same, more, or less height clearance? I have a '82 261 & want to replace 318 w/5.7 MEFI. Current 318 is about 1" above bilge and 1/2" from hatch at spark arrestor.

Perhaps starting a new post/ thread with your question may give better results .
If you can get a install drawing that give height above crank center line you can compare the height of both .
A down angle trans can also help get the height down
