I looked at a lot of magazine pictures, and other boats in my harbor, before I chose my color scheme (mostly black). It really is a matter of personal preference, but there sure are a lot of boats that are white, with blue accent.
For what it's worth, it seems most boats have 'cool' colors (blue, green), but the few boats that have 'warm' colors (red, orange, yellow, maroon) seem to stand out, and look good to my eye.
