Salon Carpet Edge Binding ideas

Post by pwollsch »

Looking to bind edges of my two pieces of salon carpet. Little fuzzies getting into places I don't like. Home depot was not much help. Sailrite.com looked nice... But cost as much as the carpet!

Anyone got advice?

Is the existing carpet what your looking to have bound? I have a binding machiine but by the time you sent it here and got it back it probably wouldnt be worth it . Any bigger carpet store should have the binding machine , up here in ny "well here anyway " binding normally runs about 2bucks per lin ft. Also a canvas shop should be able to bind the edges , their machines are capable of it although they do not come out as nice as a machine made for binding. If all else fails you can goto the home depot and back in the flooring dept. find a bottle of latex seam sealer "$7" take and cut a very small hole in the bottle tip then lay the carpet out and carefully apply the sealer to the edge of the carpet once applied use your finger to slowly wipe the edge of excess latex. This will prevent the fuzzy's and raveling of the carpet edge. its not as nice as binding but will seal the carpets edge . all else fails send it to me and I'll bind it for ya

I am going to try the sealer - I seen it yesterday, but thought there would be something better out there.

I have about 50 linear feet to do on existing pices, I want to keep it for the season (at least).

Thanks for the kind offer! :D
