F-32 stringer replacement

Post by Jtearle1288 »

Hello everyone
I'm the proud new owner of a 1986 f-32. I bought this boat knowing that it has bad inboard stringers. I've read a few posts on here and feel that I will have no problem taking this project on. My question is that I would like too use oak for the stringers as I have access too a saw mill and the lumber cost to me will be next too nothing. I don't have a probem spending money on this boat. I just want to do this job once... I will also be replacing any bad bulk heads.. If there's anything else I should do while it's torn apart I would greatly appreciate your input..
Without forums like this I would have walked away from a dream....

Thanks in advance
Jason

Welcome home, you'll find all kinds of help here from folks that have just about done it all before so ask away.

If you want to use oak, use white oak only. Doing this with engines in or out?

I'm hoping I don't have to pull the engines. If I do I will rebuild them while there out..

If they need rebuilding and the funds allow, now is the time...stringer work is a lot easier with no engines in the way.
