Synthetic oil

Post by Bubbabuda »

I am planning on changing the oil when I reach 10 hours of break-in time, and was considering using full synthetic oil instead of the Mercury 25W40 conventional oil. You say.....

A side note, I have to change my avatar because she looks nothing like she did before.

Do a "search" on the subject, there have been several discussions. Some side with synth, others with dino oil, and each for their own valid reasons. IMO, for our pleasure craft use, Merc's 25W40 is a good oil. Change regularly, and maintain her and she'll last for years.
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.
