actually I believe it is a private firm that does it, and we have to pay ($16,000.00 @#$&!!!) for them to do it! That is for the whole basin. I dive in the club and have not seen any zebra mussels on any of the boats, I also recovered a section of a windlass off a boat that sank over a year ago and it too was clear of themTorcan wrote:Shhhh... no one mentioned Zebra Mussels.ready123 wrote:Torcan, What about Zebra mussels?
But.. I haven't got any of them either !!! Not a single one, guess it is because of the new bottomkote I put on before launch.
Could also be because the Ministry of the Environment seeds around our Basin to kill off the weeds and zebra mussels every spring. They wait till the fish have spawned and then come in to our Basin and do their job.

If your boat is in southern waters (Carolinas, GA, N Florida) - you'll still need to clean the props - even with Zinc Coat. We used it on Larry's new props and it helps some, but still needed cleaning in 3 months. Cleaning was easier but the grass and barnacles are very difficult here.

3 months is a lot better then weeks . Now that ine is worn off I can't go 3 weeks as sundays run proved it 20 miles above the Carolinas. I just may do a quick haul just to re coat them . no time or $$ to spend a week out .
Have you tried prop speed down there ? good stuff but $$$$$$$$$ and you got to use the boat for it to work
Been a bad year for growth every where
