Ok heres the situation

my 74 Tri-cabin came equipped with a CruisAir WFA-16 (the label says WFA not WFAH) which i cant find a single manual for or even a reference anywhere.

The unit itself is located underneath the forward stairs with the actual ac in the forward birth and the main unit located underneath the main stairwell.

Im contemplating the idea of replacing it since its so old and is on its last breath, my question is this
has anyone attempted to yank this system before? and better yet is it ridiculously difficult to install a self contained in its place and run the duct work to the forward birth and then under the stairs

or would you guys recommend two separate ac's, one under the stairs and the other one for the forward birth (like a 4k), im looking at options here however the 2x ac is a VERY expensive upgrade....

Not sure about taking your old unit out, but I just installed the one your looking at and it works great and was easy to install.

V!! are you back home? I think your on the same boat as my cousin and he is still at sea....you guys have been posting port pictures of the same port at the same time on facebook. lol

where did you install the unit? and how many exhausts total do you have and where are they located? the reason im asking is that i want to make sure that itll have enough umpf to push the air as far as i would like it

lol well im deployed with the ike, and working at night my internet is a fair bit decentISH so im using the opportunity to do the homework needed for when i get back

there are so many people onboard that i honestly doubt that id even see or meet the guy, i see my own friends on here like once a week on accident lol

what department / division is he? i work with aviation so we dont really interact with the boat chuck guys

Mine is located in the salon behind one of the forward sliding panels on the starboard side and ducts run into the salon and to both staterooms. Both staterooms get plenty of air. The aft master stateroom is the longest duct run and it has a 4" outlet and cools very well.

so sounds like it would work if i just leave it under the stairs and run one duct straight aft and up and one straight forward and up.... a total of maybe 10 feet each way with about 2 feet of vertical lift....

i was just worried that it wouldn't have enough power to push the air that far.... im just going to have to update my teel pump as the ac is set up for 350 GPH and my pump is only 300 max....

Virtually of the marine AC use the same wiring diagram and service pressures are close enough, find one for marine air which is dometic I beleive and the docs are available on line.

well the issue is that im switching from a two part system to an all in one.... i wasn't sure that the new system would have the power to push the air where i need it to go from its mount point, the old system just channels chill water to the two units, and thats no longer going to be in use.

im thinking of mounting the new setup in its original location and running tubes 3 or 4 inch into the original vents (have to cut a hole in the deck for the new hose) and then removing the unit in the berthing and running another one therem so 3 total outputs, 2 under the main stairs one blowing into the main cabin and the other aft, and one in the forward berth.
