Ok so heres the issue, i want to install a new fridge into my tri cabin but i ran into a snag
the old fridge was 28 inch wide and 42 inch tall (not 100% sure on hight) nad had to be cut in two to get it out of the boat... (the thing was completely dead) and was replaced by a mini fridge.... the issue is as follows, how do you get a nw fridge to fit into the boat? the top deck door is 24 inch, the aft cabin door is 22 and the windows are 24.... is there a trick that im missing?
also can anyone recommend a decent fridge to put into the boat? doesnt have to be a 12v persay
thanks

Its right in front of the windshield if you have one, and if it is there, it is used to remove and replace all large items. I used mine to replace the fuel tanks, the refrigerator, all of the furniture, the mattresses, the stove......you get the idea.Vitaliy wrote:no? i didnt even know it had one? if so where exactly would it be located? its the 74 modelCommissionpoint wrote:Do you have that groovy removable hatch on the foredeck of that tri?

im guessing in-front of the windshield as in forward or it or between the helm and and windshield?as i dont remember seeing any hatch of any kind there... unless it was glassed over and the liner from the ceiling needs to be removed to see it or what not.... theres a few things about that boat that i oculdnt figure out and thats one of themk9th wrote:Its right in front of the windshield if you have one, and if it is there, it is used to remove and replace all large items. the other is that i know the couch converts into the bed (specially since there's a hidden compartment on the stbd side (behind the stbd side couch cushion) that has a double cushion) but what makes up the legs for it is the good question lol... couldn't figure that one out.....
that's a nice fridge but to get this thing in (first i needa figure out how to get it inside) the other thing is i will have to cut the counter top since the dridge that was in there beforehand was under the counter....alexander38 wrote:have that oneready123 wrote:This fits 23 3/4" x 23 1/4" x 52 7/8"

and love it ! would never do a 110v only we anchor out way to much. I know some of you use 110v only and run gen-sets and house banks but I find it simpler...IMPO
i think ill go with the 110 fridge vs the 1v honestly, its a huge premium to pay for the "simplicity" and i live on my boat, it does go out quite a bit but i find myself running the gen, plus i honestly don't go out for extended periods of time... so a 110v would be way more cost effective

tim is talking about the engine removal hatch that is epoxied in place over the salon. this was standard on the flush deck tri cabins with the engines under the salon, but, not on yours. dad had the same thing happen on bubala 3, he had to slice apart the old marvel fridge and get a smaller one for the replacement. you will need to remove the cabin entry door on the bridge deck. as for engine removal and replacement, i recommend removing the two aft bulkheads. that's what they were designed for. sorry if i'm rambling. i just got back from treatment and i took one of my pain pills so i'm a little sleepy.Vitaliy wrote:im guessing in-front of the windshield as in forward or it or between the helm and and windshield?as i dont remember seeing any hatch of any kind there... unless it was glassed over and the liner from the ceiling needs to be removed to see it or what not.... theres a few things about that boat that i oculdnt figure out and thats one of themk9th wrote:Its right in front of the windshield if you have one, and if it is there, it is used to remove and replace all large items. I took doors off frig, trim moulding off of cabin entry door and removed the control package that protruded from back of frig, it then fit, that is to get the old out, you gotta do two things get wide enough entry and slim down the frig.

never crossed my mind about removing the door trim... hmm... and tahts exactly what i had to do, hack hte old one in half and put a ini fridge that just barely fit into the kitchen... removing the siding might add that extra 2 inches that are needed...aaronbocknek wrote:tim is talking about the engine removal hatch that is epoxied in place over the salon. this was standard on the flush deck tri cabins with the engines under the salon, but, not on yours. dad had the same thing happen on bubala 3, he had to slice apart the old marvel fridge and get a smaller one for the replacement. you will need to remove the cabin entry door on the bridge deck. as for engine removal and replacement, i recommend removing the two aft bulkheads. that's what they were designed for. sorry if i'm rambling. i just got back from treatment and i took one of my pain pills so i'm a little sleepy.Vitaliy wrote:im guessing in-front of the windshield as in forward or it or between the helm and and windshield?as i dont remember seeing any hatch of any kind there... unless it was glassed over and the liner from the ceiling needs to be removed to see it or what not.... theres a few things about that boat that i oculdnt figure out and thats one of themk9th wrote: Its right in front of the windshield if you have one, and if it is there, it is used to remove and replace all large items. They also make under counter fridges that will fit through your door without moving any trim. same less than 24" dimensions.Vitaliy wrote:also i forgot to mention that i dont even need the freezer portion, i have a full standup 5 drawer freezer that i build into my back cabin right under the stairs lol so that works plenty fine, i converted that whole room into a fairly much a walk in closet

Ok, so Aaron sez you don't have the groovy hatch. I'd go with that, he knows his tri's. Too bad though, cuz, well its groovy, and if you did indeed have one you'd know what I mean.
I'm gonna plus one what Tony said about thinking hard on the 12v. option. Its really a plus. You might not know it until its not there. Trust me.
I am also gonna plus one on what Ready Mike said on think about a modern unconventional design. Lots has happened to appliances since 1974, so you could find a cool drawer unit or other design that fits and ends up being better in the long run.
