FROM AARON, WEEK TWO DOWN...

Post by aaronbocknek »

well guys, week 2 is down and in the personal file. yesterday was a bad day. no, it was a REALLY bad day. i'll spare you all the gory details, but, if you are interested i'd be glad to share off forum. let's just say.... i was a bad bad bad day. feeling a tad better today, i think i've struck a balance with the anti nausea pills and the pain pills. it's a balancing act as i don't want to swing anything too far of either direction. i'm heading to fairfax on saturday to visit my family and see my niece before she goes back to JMU and band camp. for some reason, i'm compelled to just get in the car and see them. it's tugging at my soul. i cannot tell you all enough how much i appreciate your continued support both personally and emotionally. i'm truly blessed to have such caring and compassionate friends. makes up for the gaps.
later folks.

thanks jeff, i appreciate it. my neighbor made gallons of veggie soup for me yesterday, and, it included cabbage and carrots. cabbage, for some reason, eases the after effects of radiation. not sure why, but it does. and man, after i had my first bowl yesterday after treatment, i felt instantly better. had a bowl this morning and just finished another one an hour ago. even the receptionists remarked how much better i looked today than yesterday. i still feel like hell, but, maybe in a better way. i HATE THIS!!

Hope you have some reasonable days in between the awful days. I'm sure seeing your family will do you a world of good. Just think - you're two weeks into this, so that much closer to the end of treatment.

you bet. yesterday i hope was fluke. i don't know what set off my gut like that, but man, i was exhausted by the time i went to bed.

i met the most amazing couple this afternoon. he's going through lung cancer treatment and i brought in some old boating mags for the waiting room. this guy looked at his wife and said, ''i think we have another boater here!" turns out, this man was a bay crabber for over 50 years. we had a great conversation and a bonding moment. you just never know. then, there are times when i see this young girl, all dressed in pink, even her face mask. she looks so frail in her wheel chair and the look of fear masked by hope in her parents eyes, her black lab therapy dog waiting at her feet. when i was driving home yesterday, thinking of her, i just bawled. i could not stop the tears. i was reduced to an emotionally quivering mass.

I see a rheumatology team every month still. The main doctor every 2 weeks. Their probly after my 50$ copay but oh well. last month on my 4th high count blood test the Lupus finally showed up in my organs. I sit in the waiting room and see many people in wheel chairs and just think how awful, yet greatful I am for now. These people have severe rheumatory arthritis that is crippling at any age. Then I think about what my dad told me 7 years ago. He was diagnosed with multiple myloma (blood n bone marrow) cancer. On the way home they were at a stop light and the 80 year old lady in the next car over had the windows rolled up and was huffing on a smoke. Dad never drank or smoked or did drugs his whole life. Striaght up navy fighter pilot 30 years, striaght edge. Then gets struck with a rare cancer and is in disbeleif....After 2 teatment sesions in first 3 years and almost suicide he is in great shape. Its all about the fight, finding the balance and the support!! You will get through this and this too shall pass......BTW i can spare a boston if you want another one LOL just cant let the wife know the truth!! 4 damn dogs ugh!!!
