FROM TRI CABIN AARON... NEW BOTTOM PAINT AND HULL WAXED

Post by aaronbocknek »

i could not resist heading to the boat this morning to see if anything had been done. to my surprise, her new bottom paint has been applied and the hull has been compounded and waxed. two more coats of wax will be applied. i'm stunned at how the maroon stripe buffed up. here are some before and after pics. i'm loving the new bottom color. really sets off the sand colored gel coat and the maroon stripes.

you know, i've been a bundle of emotions these past few weeks, but, i gotta admit, when i arrived at the boat yard at 0630, the pre dawn light rising over the boat, the scent of salt water and the sounds of birds.

when i saw her, i just burst into tears. why i have no idea, but, the look of her,all polished and painted, made me fill with pride.

the pics do not do her justice, and, when ryan said that he wants to add two more coats of wax and a sealant on her, i just hugged him. he said to me, ''any thing i can do to make you feel better man.'' i know i chose the right color for the bottom paint too. something told me that the black paint would really set it off. and boy, what a beauty. thank heaven trojan used a ton of zinc in the gelcoat. that's what makes these old gals shine.
and you're right. i cannot wait to take her out and stretch her legs a bit.

The new color looks great Aaron. Hopefully it won't be long till she's wet again.

Very nice Aaron. You deserve to have that beauty shine and ready to run.
Congrats!!!

And to your family, kudos! They too, from your stories, have contributed to the spirit of the boat and in helping you during this time of your health rehab and healing. Family, health and boating...what else is there? :)

See ya on the water!

hi allen, not exactly sure when she splashes again. the boat yard was shut down for a week because the main worker was in hospital with pneumonia. i just told him, as long as he's not over charging me land time, he can take as long as he needs. i do not want him to run himself down. the prop was pulled and taken to miller island prop monday, and since she was pretty banged up, who knows how long it will take. otherwise, i will wait until the second coat of wax and sealer is applied.
glad you all like the color contrast, bottom paint and maroon stripe. if i had the $$, i'd add new canvas too.... dove gray would look great with the 'new' colour scheme.
