Does your tri-fly have that fancy schmancy underwater exhaust that some of the tricabin's have? That alone would explain a huge difference in noise levels. Add to that distance from engines, distance from exhaust, closer to the water, and definitely it will be noisier from the helm.
A couple of other examples : my father's old 28 Sea Skiff (1969) was way noisier at the helm than my F32 is from the bridge... and the F32 noise levels from the lower station vs from the bridge is a totally different experience as well.
For what it's worth, Mr. Torcan puttered past me a couple of weeks ago, and at least at idle nothing was any noisier than I would have expected.
