426 hemi marine ? that would be rare , not even sure Chrysler marnize it . so marine parts maybe imposable to get. They did make a 426 wedge and many 383 and 440 parts will fit.
Chrysler made a 325 and 331 and (a 354 I belive )marine hemi rare now . I have seem people try to pass them off as a 426 . Chrysler also made a 392 hemi , I don't know if they did it in marine .
Honestly I would not what any of the engines for a boat . Are you looking at a boat with them ?

No 426 hemi in marine that I ever heard of but it would make the ad/boat sound more appealing!. 426 wedge yes, but there are differences in the hemi. 426 or more correctly I believe the 413 industrial were used in marine also, again not the same as a hemi. If I remember my history, the hemi design was an offshoot of this engine. Great engines but haven't had to source parts for years so don't know availability, heck it's getting harder to get parts for the more common stuff like 440s! Hey, for the right price on the boat, there could always be a repower in the future and I bet someone would love to get their hands on those 426s to rebuild for automotive apps.
Interesting topic. Would be nice to know what's really in her. A number off the block would help.

Doubt its a hemi - ask for a picture. Where are the spark plugs?
Funny - even the new "Hemi" engines from Chrysler are not hemi engines.
They just trademarked the Hemi name and used it as a marketing tool, representing nothing hemispherical at all, as here is no hemispherical head (too expensive).
Now .. let the debates begin.

Ross, actually your post states a pair 426 Hemis. But actually, they're early 354 cid Hemis, shown by the plaques on the case.
Also, there were two diferent 426 Hemis, one has the distributor, (early original model) in front of the block. The later 426 has the distributor in the rear of the block. They of course did have a 354 Hemi as well.
Here is a picture of a Super Charged 426 Hemi (Model) I have in my office.

Re: Marine Hemi Photos and Videos
Awesome video. I see a lot of Hackers old and 'new'. The 'new' company is headquartered here, if you look at thier photos you may recognize the scenery from some of mine. If you are into the that kind of thing, visit the factory, these guys see some crazy rare pieces on a regular basis. They do an amazing amount of resto work and also build new from old plans. Bring yer checkbook though......rossjo wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbKQRjigelw Hemi Hacker

My understanding is that they are rare because the marine division marinized a handful but never went to production thus most of what's out there are the industrials and not true hemi.

ok.. so my brother was able to make the trip up to see this boat..
..although its near the end of season..
Hes got his commercial captains papers for great lakes..
The engines purr.. lots of power... , boat tracks true,, however, he states it seems one engine sits higher in the bilge than the other..
Boat has single carbs.. and the current owner/ vendor, who foundhimself relocated inland with his Govt. job, cant fit the new flame arrestor..
( boat was missing them when he purchased last year)
the deck has two opposing layers of marine ply with the teak strips overtop.. very solid. routering out the subdeck has not helped..
