Cool Radio - Polaris Regency NC 7200

Post by DAVIDLOFLAND »

Any of you guys ever see this radio back in the 80/90's?

I had only seen two, one on a commercial fishing boat, and the second on the bridge of the USCG Cutter Mustang. Has RDF, so it shows the bearing to any VHF transmission via the circle of red lights on the left side of the face.

I always wanted one, but figured I'd never see one for sale. Then, this one came uo on Craiglist right here in Anchorage, NIB, never installed. Picked it up for $260. Googled it, and found a company that does nothing but service and sell parts for Polaris radios, which is obviously good news if you have vintage equipment like this.

Can't wait to install it next spring.

Nice find! For those who aren't so lucky, they can always buy a SITEX 525 VHF/ADF. Its a little more expensive at $599.99, but will also do the job.

I didn't know about the Sitex ADF, or I probably would have bought it before now. It's nice to know what direction a transmission is coming from, for fishing intel, emergencies, etc.
