the one thing that's nice about being on medical leave is the ability to putz around on the boat on a daily basis and enjoy some of the fine fall weather. and gang you all were right. the best therapy going !!! i can't move like i used to yet, and i still experience mind bending, breath stealing stabs of pain, (oh god the body paralyzing, mind numbing pain) but, i've made the best of my time on the boat now that she's in her slip at parkside.
okay, when i was looking at perry's (p-dogg) boat i noticed that his tri cabin had 'drip diverters' on the stern rub rail that allows water to drain off the side and aft decks, and not run around the rub rail and onto the transom. well, i figured if it's good enough for perry's tri cabin, it's good enough for me. the dilemma was figuring out a material for it. as i was chopping veggies the other day, i had a light bulb moment. the material that the chop mat is made of is perfect for this. so, yesterday i went to the dollar store and picked up a package of two flexible chopping mats .
i undid the screws holding on the stainless rub rail (the old screws were replaced with new ) and once it separated a bit, some plastic fell onto the swim platform. ahhhh, trojan or the PO had them there at one point. so, after measuring how long and wide i wanted them, i simply cut them out and mounted them. and they work!! quite well as a matter of fact. here are some pics to show off some of my handy work. not a big project, but, it keeps the schmutz from running around the rub rail and onto the transom. like i said, not a big job, but hey, it was a fun little project.
