Front deck core on F-32s
I,ve got a 78 F-32. There are 2 areas on the front deck that I will be replacing during the off season. I am aware that the deck is cored in quadrants, but does anyone know how many there are? I was going to replace a large section to correct the 2 spots, but now I know this type of construction will allow me to only have to repair what is needed. The repair is no big deal, as I have replaced the port side of the back deck about 10 years ago. My concern is how many of these quadrents there are. I think I can find them with a very bright light, but thought I'd ask all our dedicated Trojanites. Thanks in advance, RICH.

Hey cool pics Ready!
OP, FWIW quadrants are 4's. Its why they are called quadrants. You may mean to say sections or something else so you get only good info back.

I would think it was initially done as all one piece while in the mold, I did not see any obvious breaks in core lay down. It is a two layer core (thickness).....
Maybe what the OP means is repair should be done in sections... i.e. from center line to port rail then center line to starboard etc: so that only about 16 sq foot of core should be missing at any one time.
Remember to support the deck around the forward hatch from inside V berth before you start digging the core out.
Hopefully the pictures showed how to do it in sections..... my core turned out to be all wet on the lower fwd deck and side decks after initial tests at survey..... so be prepared to do more once you open the obvious sections, you don'y want to leave any wet core behind.

Oh I see what you did.prowlersfish wrote: 4' means 4 feet right ? I think you meant 4th's or 1/4 ???

It was 4 apostrophe s. As in multiple fours.
English isn't our strong sute up here in the woods you noe.

Ready pretty much captured my original intent in his last post anyhow. Which is that it was probably assembled in one go at the factory, but that you will want to do it in sections with plenty of support so it doesn't fall in on itself unintentionally.
As an aside, my front deck was done some years back. Whoever did it did a pretty good job. I hear they have me scheduled for the crane tomorrow and I will be going over to do some work. If I have time I will shoot some pics of my front deck.

That word can have a lot of different meanings or uses both correct and not so correct .
Now let me ask you a question if you bought a quarter horse how much of a horse would you have ?
Back to the OP I think we knew what He meant about about repairing it in sections .
Look forward to the photos , And any progress reports

Quads was a bad choice
I guess I should of used a more proper term for what I was refering to. The response to the word quad was so much better than the help I got for the question, but thanks to all. Rich.
