I was just messaging a fellow Trojan owner in Illinois from this site and I am confused about props.
Obviously, I have props on my 1978 F30.
I had the F30 boat up to 24 knots WOT this past summer season which I think is good for a 1978 and my boating neighbors were very impressed.
So my existing props = Good for speed BAD FOR GAS.
Now, the props on my boat. . . sure this is a tiny nick on one blade on the port and a tiny nick on one blade on the starboard blade. Not worthy of a fixing and balancing job.
But on my boat I have a brand new set of LARGER props from 1978 with the tags still on them. My current props are small compared to the never been used larger props.
So, am I missing something here. Why the small props for 34 years while the big props sit in the bottom of the cabin closet?????? At least I should be able to put the larger bronze proprs in the dock box!
Precise measurements of the big props can be provided when I check on the boat’s winter storage this Friday.

Dave you need the RIGHT size props . Not larger not smaller . The props should be sized so the engines turn up to full rpm operating range at wide open . to large and and your over loading the engines

Dave, If your WOT is around 4200 rpm's I'd say you're right on the money, thats where you need to be. Can you have the original props fixed? they should be 14X11 cupped.
