F-32 engine question

Have 318 cry. engine--noticed today when stb engine switch is turned on, warning horn does not work every time. also noticed, that engine light will not go on topside,but will on lower station--any connection?? Engine starts fine and works well----what is the problem

most likely it's the buzzer itself or the oil presssure switch. Both can be can be checked with a simple multimeter.

Turn the key on while checking the voltage at the buzzer. If 12v is present, and the buzzer isn't working, then you have a bad buzzer. If 12 volts is not present, leave the engine off and switch the meter to take resistance readings. Check the oil pressure switch (not the oil pressure sending unit) and see if the 2 posts have continuity. They will likely be open (high resistance). If they are open, you can double check that this is the problem by again putting the key in the on position and momentarily shorting the two posts together with a short piece of wire. if the buzzer sounds- your switch is bad.

You can buy a new one at any good (non chain) auto parts store .
