Wow does this boat run
Well everyone, In finely getting out with my little Trojan to give a good test of the electric fuel pump, I was able to burn up around sixty gal of last years fuel. Dam I love this boat, you could not expect the performance she gave me from a new boat. That 351 Ford I engin ran like a gem, I only ran her up to around 4300 rpm briefly but ran her at 3300 for a long time. That boat can move, It was keeping up with some speed boats, if not overtaking some. The oil pressure stayed a constant 40psi, only when dropping back to an idle did she drop to around 25 psi than came right back up to around 38psi and stayed there. I would love to know the hours that are this engin.
For some time I was getting depressed about the season and not being able to get out. I am now refreshed and the mind is in non stop boat mode, Hell I even washed her, and teak oiled the back deck. Oh yeah, I did not forget to fill the fridge with the beer.

No that 60 gal of last years gas, only cost me $3.69 per, when I filled her back up it only cost me $4.12, member price at a boat club I am a member at, now that is not bad. There are places charging over $6.00 per gal, now these places should be fined and shut down, there cost is not much more than the service station. Non the less, it was great to get out, I don’t care what they want to charge, I am boating.

MATTSC, the engin is a carb unit, fuel-injection would be nice, but she runs sweet and I am very happy. Went out all this last weekend, had a ball. I have about twenty boat owners that want me to install a new teak deck like the one I have installed on my boat, she is a looker. Hope every one had a wonderful weekend, my fridge is empty.

I was going to go camping, not being able to get out with the boat the whole summer. However, I was able to get out last weekend and got energized and hooked. So none the less we went camping with the boat and had a great time, we rafted off with three other boats and partied harty.

Hi Rick,
Glad that you had a great time on the boat and its running well for you, that's half the battle. I was just curious, because with the engine I have in the boat now, I'm able to plug it into my laptop and it will tell me a whole bunch of stuff about the engine: How long it's been operated at different rpm's, max rpm its ever turned, maximum temp its reached, fuel burn, plus a bunch of diagnostic stuff. It's a pretty in depth program, I purchased it from crusader and use it every 15-20hrs to take a snapshot of the engine so I can compare it over time. I have just under 300hrs on the engine and its been great. My original engine was a chrysler lm318 raw water cooled and got just over 1800hrs on it. It ran well, but the last 100 hrs or so I could tell it was getting tired. Enjoy the rest of the season,
Matt

I don’t think the engin has a lot of hours on her. The boat came off of Lake-George in New York. That person used it for fishing with out-riggers, not very fast running there. After just two years of that, the person that I got the boat from purchased it. He would put her in the water at the club and sit on it, once a year when the club would have a party on an island it owns, he would go up river around one mile and back, that is it. John was a friend of mine for many years, I use to go to his dinner all the time, he knew I loved and restored boats, so when he was passing away he wanted me to have the boat, well for $3000.00 that is. When I go her she was sitting in the saddle for around Four years with a tree growing off the swim-platform. My point is that it could only have a few hundred hours on her. When I turn the key, that engin is up and running in less than one revolution of the starter, you can hardly hear the engin crank.
As for the empty fridge, she is full now, I am ashamed, I will not let that happen again.

Good for you Rick! We're winding down here only because we too much land-locked junk to do this month, and at Sacandage we have to pull the boats in early October. But....I always keep the fridge full! Enjoy what's left of this season, most of us will be armchair captains this winter on the forum!
