Wrong Color? These engines have the original paint and were purchase as complete packages from Crusader. I don't know if Crusader had black engines I know Merc's do. Anyway I like the Blue or lighter colors it lets you know when leaks pop up.

Excellent work. It looks like you re-painted the bilge too. And it's nice to see that the strainer is earning its keep.

Ditto on the blue-colored engines. As you say, a contrasting color makes any oil leaks easier to see.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

They were razzing ya on the make... inferring that you should have gone with Mercs. Good thing you didn't take their advice before buying

Nice engine compartment Larry! Best of luck with the new engines, they are really good and should serve you well.

Not inferring anything.

Crusader makes a great marinized engine. Can't say otherwise cuz it would be untue.

Larry did a superb job. Can't say otherwise cuz it would be untrue.

I like Mercs better than Crusaders. Can't say otherwise cuz it would be untrue.

A properly marinized SBC with good components is a quality piece of machinery. Can't say otherwise cuz it would be untrue.

If they were in the Eclipse they would be black not blue. Can't say otherwise cuz it would be untrue. :)

Black paint will cause the engines to dissipate heat more . sounds good except that equals higher engine room temps . Years ago GM started painting their engines black . Why ? to help find oil leaks . Many came with dye added to the oil . The dye would show up very well aginst the black engines. Pre 80s oil leaks and usage where pretty noramal on just about any engine . Adding a few qts of oil between changes was pretty normal.
