So my wife gave me a birthday present, an owners manual (from Beacon) for the F-32 we recently bought. I see the original owners name and start to do a little hunting. Google is my friend! Sent an email or two. Anyway, this is a clip of what he sent me. Very cool to find some history on her.
-----We bought it in Milwaukee and drove it to Sandusky, OH over Labor Day weekend. I am not sure of the mileage, but I guess about 600 miles. It took about 4 days. We cruised at about 20 mph. She was named Courageous, but the dealer said it should be named STUPID for taking off on that trip without a shake down cruise. We cruised 4 of the 5 Great Lakes in the Courageous. We also cruised the Trent Severn waterway thru Canada.
Several years later we cruised her from Sandusky to Ft Lauderdale in 22 days. The trip was about 2200 miles and about 50 locks. At that time it didn't have a Bimini or air conditioning. Both were added in the first month or so in Ft Lauderdale. We made several trips to the Bahamas in the Courageous. We traded her for a larger diesel 10.8 meter Trojan for better speed and range.
Where did you buy her and what was her name? Will you take her up the Mississippi?----
Made my day!
Craig

Re: Researching
I'm thrilled you had that success. I had the same original manuals from Bob for my boat and started from the front end sale while working backwards from the P.O.'s. Looked - obviously through Google - but also a couple of state records and the CG (she was documented at one point) At any rate, ran into a jam with one past owner who I guess felt is was an invasion of his privacy to tell me anything -even though I had politely asked if he could tell me some more of the boats history as I thought it would be nice to document her life. I had even traced yards that had done work on her in the past, but of course that information was inaccessible without the person commissioning the work releasing the information
Anyways, good for you, at least you ran into nice people that could provide that background.
cheers

That's so cool ! Glad the boat had a good first owner. It sets the pattern for it's life.
