Tricab dinghy size -- advice needed
I'm in danger of buying a dinghy for my 1985 tricabin. I plan to mount it on edge on the swim platform, using Seawise davits after I hit the lottery. My question is, how long of a dinghy can i safely stow this way? The transom is 11' wide, the swim platform is 10'. At least one other tri owner has a 10' dink mounted this way. I'd like to know if anyone else does. I plan to mostly boat in the upper Chesapeake. i don't consider myself a fair weather boater, but there are days when I will not leave the dock. Thanks in advance for the input.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Are you looking for a RIB (rigid bottom) or a SIB(soft bottom)?
I have seen the MVLP-10, and the C-10 Caribes, both RIBs, stored and transported on weaver davits. I personally haven't done this but I was planing on it with my Caribe, unitl I picked up a larger AB.

My dinghy of choice is a 10' Apex RIB, a probably sporting a 15 hp Yamaha.

I'd say a 10 or 11 foot would work fine, storing the engine was a bigger pain in A$$ than the dink..

I fully agree .
PDogg , your choice of the 10' Apex RIB would be a excellent pick

Make sure it won't interfere with the stern lines if your planning on storing it there while at the dock.
