Figured out why my Head wouldn't flush***PICS inside***

have a sealand vacuflush. This summer, while on a trip it stopped working, found that the bolts holding the pump motor had backed off, pump had come loose, flipped over, pulled out the wires. Removed the fridge, floor boards over the head pump, put it back together, then of course it didn't work because it was plugged with a big clot of toilet paper. Remove that, vacation saved.

Well, we went out on Sunday. I turned on the vacuum pump and went in to the belge to find the pump. I found it and found that one of the belts popped off. The pulley on the motor had a loose set screw and wandered the belt off. I put the belt back on and got the toilet to finally flush but it still slightly cloegged. It still doesn't flush all that well and completely, but I will check on it this weekend on Sunday.

I couldn't tell you. I haven'tseen any markings on the toilet or the pumps. The pump has two motors that are belt driven to the vacuum diaphrams. The whole pump mechanism is about 12" wide by 6-7" deep and about 8" tall. Motors on top with belts to the pulleys. It's something to look at. Looks like an old steam engine or something. It's back in the very back of the belge where there is not a whole lot of light.
I see now I need to go down and take pictures of the entire belge so when something happens I can just post a picture. I see that would help a lot in troubleshooting. :D

Once again, I recommend you call Mike Starito at Northeast Sanitation (631-752-7606). He has been working with these things for over 30 years and is the most knowledgeable person I've ever spoken with about marine sanitation systems.

Ok, I will have to call him then once I figure out the maker of the parts, gonna have to get in there with a biggerlight and search for aserial number or something .

Try calling him and describe what you have and he may be able to help you without finding the numbers. He is really great to deal with.

I found a picture finally of what my pumps look like.
I have two of these that come on when I push the button.
They are Jabsco pumps

They are mounted side by side.
I spoke to my Dad and he thinks there is some trash caught in the rear head Jabsco and it needs to be taken apart and cleaned.

All along I thought the front head had a new pump on it but come to find out it was just rebuilt and not replaced.
the rear one was rebuilt aswell but just doesn't have the same kind of vacuum and the front head.

The weird thing I am thinking is that I have two of these running when I turn the rear head on. I'm wondering if maybe somewhere along the way my two pumps got wired together so thatboth come on when just one ot he toilets buttons are pushed. Because I know when I push the button for the rear head, both of them come on. I really need to do some more investigating intothe way this system works.

Well I finally removed the pumps and disected them to find the issue. Here is the two pumps for the rear head. They Jabsco's I think they are the "Heavy Duty" version but I can't tell. Ther serial number is 155288 but the model numbers have been removed.

Yea, I never thought it was a rig. I just thought it was a very nice piece of engineering by Jabsco or Trojan.

The only thing about this set up, is the rebuild kit cost $80 for each pump and there is 4 pumps total.
I just bought the two flat rubber diaphrams instead of the whole kit and they were $20 each. That is rediculous for what you get for your money. Really icould have made those diaphrams from a inner tube but want to do it right so I ordered the correct parts. The little round discs in the middle were still in good shape so I didn't thin kthey were worth paying SO much to replace them, I will just clean and make sure they are in good shape before re-assembly.

Oh, another note: definately get some rubber gloves to rebuild these, it helps a lot with the smell to come off your hands. :-)
