It seems the weather has finally turned and spring has arrived here in the Adirondacks. I took the oppertunity today in the 50+ degree weather to go over and get the cover and framing off the Trojan and get it back over here for storage until winter. It didn't really take that long to get stuff opened back up again and I used some of the extra daylight to start getting her cleaned up.
I managed to get about halfway up the port side with what daylight was left with compound. I'll go back tomorrow after it warms up a little to at least finish that side and hopefully get a good start on the Stbd. After that I don't really care. I can get at everything else easilly enough when its in the water. I am hoping to get the hull all compounded and waxed over the weekend and if I can manage to get that done I'll put her back in for the season on Monday.
There is still ice on the lake, but it will be gone in a couple days. Maybe even tomorrow. So here goes. Can I get it to the point I want by Sunday at sundown so I can have it in for Monday?
I'm sure gonna try like hell.
I took some pics. I'm gonna go eat something though before I get them off the camera. I'll post them a little later.

Here she is after all the covers and crap got removed. I was the first one uncovered, but there was another fella over there today doing something in his bilge.

Here a couple of the compounding results. No wax yet. I like how you can see the reflection of the hull behind me and it makes that boat look like a complete image. Not bad shine on the Trojan either.

Yeh. Only about 500 yards though Rick. I have been fishing that town dock for lakers at ice out since I was a kid. Sometimes we even put the 11 foot Smoker in and troll rhe edge when the dock is too crowded. Those guys down there in the basin at Sand N Surf and Blue Lagoon are my neighbors. Andy at Gilchrest has been helping me out since we were kids pulling brookies out of Smith Brook. I actually own Smith Brook & Co. these days.
Glad to know you are familiar with life down here at the corner of Warren County 35 and The Street of Dreams. I have heard tell that if you know the right people, you can even catch a ride on a classic Trojan on The Queen of American Lakes.

Lost a whole day today. Ity never managed to get out of the 30's here today, and thats just too cold to work with the materials that I need to work with. The good news is that its supposed to work up close to 60 degrees ('Merican degrees for Big D and others north of me ) tomorrow afternoon after some morning sprinkles, so I think If I work to the wire at 8pm I will be able to finish.

We're late this year. Like maybe 2 weeks later than usual. Getting frozen rain right now A lot of ice and some boats still surrounded by snow! Sure isn't the same Spring we had last year but it's going to be a great Summer CM, I grew up with the F scale and it's just a matter of time before you guys switch over. It's the new world order, you will be assimilated, you must comply, resistance is futile

Probably one to two weeks away. Really depends on how many good days and nights we get. Just a few are needed but hasn't been consistent this year. Once the runoff starts, the ice goes pretty quick. There's a fair bit of water over the ice right now but probably still about two feet of ice under.

Theres some serious sheets floating around out here still also. They had all blown into the village over the last few days, but today the wind has switched and its blowing them back up the lake. Not thick, but big. Miles long. Just floating around sizing up folks docks. Waiting for nobody to be looking so it can come ashore and destroy stuff.
I think I got two days. Yesterday screwed up my timing. Supposed to be 70 on Tuesday though, so if I got in Tuesday instead of Monday I'd be ok with that. Salmon fishing won't get good for a couple weeks yet anyhow. That should give me time to do the Mallory/Edelbrock thing and get stuff dialed in. Gonna start with the Stbd. because thats the one I troll on most of the time.
