10 meter mid-cabin microwave?
Any suggestions of one that "fits" the cutout on a mid-cabin?
Brands with model # and a picture of the refit would be appreciated.
My wife has asked about a microwave / convection combo. Has anyone done this?
Thanks!

Re: 10 meter mid-cabin microwave?
Weird coincidence.... Just removed mine Friday for the same reason. I've researched a bunch of models already, the depth on the original one is unusually shallow compared to what they make today. You really need a .07 CU foot model, .09 is close. I don't mind going a lot smaller because I find the big door annoying swinging from the right (which they all do). Even a .07 will fit a dinner plate which is the biggest thing we use it for.
I bought a .09 already but didn't notice the bump out on the back which made it stick out about 2" too far. I'm calling Amana tomorrow to verify the measurements on another model. If ok, I'll post the model. I briefly looked into the combination units but they don't get great reviews.
BTW, removing the microwave gives you direct access to the waste pumpout hose/ deck plate.

Bob,
I found this:
http://www.adventurerv.net/dometic-dorm ... 26227.html
It's taller than what we have now. I left my dimensions at the boat today so i can't tell you if it will work.

Mike,
That would work if you're looking for a similar size, plus the price is great. I went with a much smaller one: Frigidaire FFCM0724LB 0.7 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave - Black
It was really the smaller door that did it for me plus I should pick up some storage on one side. I'll post a pic, should be here next week.

Bob,
I like the idea of more storage. I'm thinking that might be the ticket. Please post a picture once you get it installed.
I ran all over measuring microwaves with no luck on an exact match. I walked into the lunch room at work and just about fell over when I saw the one I have seen every day for the past 5 years. It measures about as close as I think we are going to get.

Re: 10 meter mid-cabin microwave?
is that a price misprint for the microwave? i am also looking at replacing the one i have as the one that is installed now has a coffee maker built in and the door handle is not flush. it prevents me from opening one of the cabinet doors fully.cmcmjk wrote:Bob,

Aaron,
I have not contacted them yet. If you are interested, I'd give them a call:
Adventure RV Center
2910 Newport Highway
Sevierville, TN 37876
(865) 429-3698
From what I researched it's not a current model, so it's probabaly a "close out". Shipping to Northern Michigan was about $25, but I think it's still a good deal.

Craigslist saves the day again! Found a GE Spacemaker II with the mounting kit for $50!
The is the ONE that fits the cutout. I did have to trim the hole right to the edges but it fits perfect. The trim kit needed to be cut on one side to go around the cabinet but covers the area that the factory trim did and looks much better!
Here's the pics in case any one else goes the same route. The pics are cut off for some reason, you can click on them to see the full pic in photobucket.

Here's what I wound up making out of teak. I picked up a little storage, plates on the side and food storage bags on top. I like the smaller door so you have more room to stand when it's open.
