Hatch latches

Looking to replace a broken hatch latch on a 1987 12 meter convertible. The hatch is over the forward stateroom. Does anyone know where to get a replacement short of replacing the whole hatch. It is believed to be a Taylor made product and they do not carry inventory past 1990 or so. Would one of the newer latches work if the whole mechanism was used?
